GOLFER OF THE YEAR 2009
The hunt is definitely on for the prestigious award as we head into Shannon on Saturday. Kieran is nervously looking back over his shoulder as James has joined Clement in the chasing pack. Realistically it is between these three to see who takes the honour.
Rumour has it that the GOY leader and his travelling posse have been heading to Shannon recently to familiarise themselves with the course and the bar menu. As the saying goes, fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Best of luck to all involved in the shake up on Saturday.

2008 Golfer of the Year: John O'Keeffe
The Golfer of the Year for 2008 has been decided and no surprise in the winner.
John O Keeffe has played some amazing golf this year, claiming top spot in Dundrum, 2nd in both the Presidents prize and Tipperary and also winning the Captains Prize in Charleville Golf Club. He started out the year with the goal of claiming back his spot on the Kilmallock GS Star Team and he certainly achieved that in some style. Congratulations John.
The Top 10 in GOY will be approached in the coming weeks as to their availability for the Star Team in 2009. The selectors in 2009 are Barra and Tommy. Any body not interested in playing can let either of the selectors know. The selectors will have a few headaches over the wildcard picks this year, with some notable absentees from the team.
